Green Valley K9 offers a full-service daycare that is focused on safe productive play time while giving your dog the best day, every day!
Daycare is a great way to give your dog mental stimulation and exercise while you are busy during the workday.
**GVK9 will prioritize new dogs interested in consistent daycare services in addition to any boarding needs**
Enrollment process at GVK9 is as follows:
-Fill out the pre-approval application. Once we've reviewed your application and feel that your dog might be the right fit for our facility, they will be invited for an Introduction Day!
This is a full day of daycare (8 hours) in which our staff will monitor your dog and see what play group they will fit into. Your dog MUST be able to participate in group play in order to attend our facility. (No exceptions)
If your dog will be boarding with us, we will require an overnight trial boarding stay to happen at customers earliest convenience.
*Spay and Neuter Policy*
GVK9 is very transparent about this policy. All new clients must agree to spay/neuter any puppies no later than 8 months old (NO Exceptions)
Client is responsible for providing veterinary paperwork and a specific policy waiver will be presented at time of first visit. Any client that does not adhere to this policy will no longer be able to attend our facility.
*Age Requirements*
Puppies that are fully vaccinated to Pups 10 years of age can attend our facility.
We require that all "new to you dogs" be established in their home for a minimum of 3 months prior to attending our facility. Any rescue or shelter dogs would require up to 6 months per GVK9 discretion.
What is my dog's day like?
Upon arrival, pups are brought back to their suite while our kennel staff separates them into their group! There are 3 different options for what type of group your pup will join.*
Our playgroups consist of 8-15 other dogs who are similar in size, energy level, and play style.
Green Valley K9 typically runs 10-12 playgroups throughout the day, monitored by our experienced staff. Groups are rotated through our four natural grass yards, indoor playroom, and our all-season indoor pool. Groups rotate every 20-30 minutes, which we run throughout the whole day. Every dog gets plenty of rest with fresh water while other groups are out. We do not accept lunches or daytime treats unless the dog is 8 month or younger and need of supplemental nutrition.
*Dogs are never guaranteed indoor pool time*
ALL DOGS GO OUTSIDE SEVERAL TIMES A DAY
*All groups are created and based on behaviors that are observed by kennel staff. Please know that your dog may act differently here than they do with you. They may have off days or moods that fluctuate and groups may change as they do.
*Socialization is never guaranteed.
We require all dogs participating in group play to exhibit friendly acceptable behaviors. If your dog displays negative body language, rough play, or repeated mounting, they may be pulled from group either permanently or for the day. This will always be at the discretion of kennel staff. If the staff observes any changes in behavior, we will always keep owners up to date. Please refer to the Canine Code of Conduct
Your dog's first day:
We accept all new dogs through a pre-approval application process. The application is available here on the website. The application helps us find dogs that will excel in the environment we offer.
All new dogs are required to attend a first day of daycare to get to know our staff and our facility. Your dog's first day with us is designed to be low pressure and taken slowly. On a first day of daycare, each dog will meet our staff members prior to being introduced to other dogs. Once we see your dog is comfortable with the kennel staff, we will introduce them to a playgroup! Playgroups are determined by size and temperament. During group introduction, your dog will first be introduced to one well-mannered selected by kennel management. All new introductions are done on-leash for safety purposes. If the new dog exhibits friendly body language with their first friend, we will continue to add dogs into the playgroup until the new dog is fully introduced to their group! We take new introductions to group slowly to promote and encourage dogs to feel comfortable in their new playgroup.
You will receive a report card to your online account with photos and feedback on your dog's first day.
*Please note that photos are never a guarantee. Our priority is the safety of the dogs in the yard first, photos are secondary.
*Not all dogs will be pool dogs, Indoor pool time is not a guaranteed*
*Please leave all collars and bandanas at home. Having things around a dog's neck out in the play yard is very dangerous.
Please Note: GVK9 Management staff reserves the right to dismiss any dog due to concerning behavioral issues at any time. Please refer to the Canine Code of Conduct (below)
Vaccines are required BEFORE your dog comes in for their first day.
Any dog who does not have updated vaccines are not allowed into the facility for services.
Vaccinations required for GVK9 are:
-Current Rabies
-Yearly Bordetella (Kennel Cough)
-DHPP/DHLPP (Distemper/Parvo)
*Owners, not GVK9, are responsible for keeping dogs up to date on all shots and providing updated records as needed.
At Green Valley K9, we place the safety of our dogs and staff as the highest priority. While the staff at GVK9 does everything we can to provide services as requested, we do require dogs in our care to exhibit appropriate behavior when being handled by all staff members. We do our best to keep owners informed of any behaviors with their dogs that are out of the norm, however certain behaviors will be cause for immediate dismissal. These behaviors are as follows:
-Biting or attempting to bite
- Growling/snarling at staff with or without direct eye contact
- Biting another dog that results in any injury
- Lunging or barking in an aggressive or unsafe manner
- Excessive mounting/pinning staff
- Resource guarding food, water, or their suite in a way that may lead to an incident
- Being unable to safely leash dog to move them throughout the facility
- Any aggressive action resulting from reactivity or high anxiety
*In the event of a dog-to-dog bite, the specific circumstances will be evaluated by the management team and the owner will be contacted regarding the status of their enrollment at GVK9.
These actions will be documented by GVK9 staff and we will provide a copy of the incident report for the owner’s own records. We do not offer any in-house training to correct aggressive actions and recommend owners contact a trainer.
Green Valley K9 is a service-based business that strives to continually provide a warm, welcoming, and comfortable environment for staff, clients, and our four-legged friends! To maintain a concrete level of professionalism we have created this policy that breaks down our expectations for every client that walks through our doors.
Our Zero Tolerance PolicyIncludes the Following:
· Any form of harassment.
· Verbal abuse or harmful statements about others, profanity, and blatant disrespect towards employees, other clients, or dogs.
· Crossing an employee’s personal boundaries, either physically or verbally
· Discriminatory comments or actions.
· Intimidation tactics or threats towards another person.
*If this code is violated, or we experience problematic behavior, we reserve the right to terminate services immediately*
How does GVK9 handle cases of Kennel Cough?
If your pup contracts Kennel Cough, the policy at GVK9 is to contact your veterinarian immediately for advice, and to wait at least one week from the time your dog starts treatment (if recommended) before returning to daycare, assuming they are on the expected course of recovery and no longer exhibiting symptoms. We ask that you please contact your vet for his or her opinion before returning as well. This is due to the contagious nature of the bacteria.
The cleaners used in our facility throughout the day, and after every single session, are formulated specifically for veterinarian environments, targeting and eliminating potential transmission of viruses and bacteria like Kennel Cough, Parvo, Distemper, even the human cold and flu (and recently shown to eliminate Covid-19 as well).
If we observe coughing while in our care, we will isolate the pup until you are able to pick them up, and we will notify you immediately. We appreciate your understanding that our policies are driven by the priority we place on the overall health and wellness of all the dogs in our care.
